Rishabh Pant Says Sorry to Fans After SA Whitewash

In the second Test match, Indian vice-captain Rishabh Pant took charge of the squad in Shubman Gill’s absence. Pant did not do well at the batting end, scoring 49 runs at an average of 12.25 in four innings as India lost both games.

In the two-match Test series against South Africa, India was humiliated by a 0-2 whitewash. The coaching staff and Indian players have been the target of harsh criticism ever since. India’s chances of making it to the World Test Championship (WTC) final have also been harmed by the fiasco. Their victory percentage is a pitiful 48.15, with four victories and an equal number of losses in nine games. After Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, the former finalists are stuck at number five.

The wicketkeeper-batter wrote a poignant statement to the supporters less than twenty-four hours after the second Test defeat, expressing regret that the Indian players had fallen short of their expectations.

“We didn’t play well enough cricket over the past two weeks; that much is clear. We continuously strive to be the best both individually and as a team in order to make billions of Indians happy. “We apologise for not meeting expectations this time, but sports teach you to grow as a team and as a person,” Pant posted on Instagram.

According to Pant, the greatest honour for a player is to represent India. He expressed gratitude to the supporters for their steadfast support and pledged to grow from his mistakes and make a big comeback going forward.

“The greatest honour of our lives is to represent India. We will put in a lot of effort, regroup, refocus, and reset in order to return stronger and better as a team and as individuals because we know what this team is capable of.

I appreciate your steadfast love and support. Pant said.

After being selected for India’s team, which will play South Africa in a three-match series, the Delhi player will now concentrate on the 50-over format. On Sunday, November 30, the first ODI is scheduled to take place in Ranchi.
