Jason Roy, a legend of the Royal Champs, said he was confident the team could recover at the current 2025 Abu Dhabi T10.
Jason Roy, who hit 42 off 25 balls in the Royal Champs’ recent seven-wicket defeat to the Ajman Titans on Sunday, recognised the team’s difficulties while highlighting their will to produce winning combinations.
Despite forcing three of their four games to the very last over, the Royal Champs are still looking for their first victory of the season.
“We’re working hard to establish the correct mix and balance in the team, but a couple things haven’t been working well for us. It’s just one game to regain the momentum in T10 cricket, and I have no doubt that this team will recover.”
The 2019 World Cup champion highlighted the leadership of senior professionals and renowned coach Sir Courtney Walsh, drawing strength from his expertise in the Royal Champs establishment.
It is really helpful to have players like Shakib Al Hasan and Angelo Mathews in the locker room. Their background in various formats and under duress adds a great deal to the group,” Jason Roy said. “We have the know-how and leadership to turn this around with Sir Courtney Walsh leading the charge. We’re supporting one another and ourselves as a team.”
Jason Roy also emphasised the physical challenges of the tournament’s short match intervals.
“With such a demanding schedule, fitness and recuperation are essential. We’re carefully allocating our resources to make sure that everyone is available when needed,” he continued.
Jason Roy desire to play in the UAE capital is unshakeable despite the difficult start to Champs’ first season. “I truly love coming here and playing cricket in Abu Dhabi. There is a lot to discover in the area, and the facilities are top-notch. It’s an amazing setting for gamers.
Royal Champs will play Aspin Stallions on November 26 in the Abu Dhabi T10, which continues through November 30.
