Shreyas Iyer Still Not Fit for SA ODIs

It is anticipated that Shreyas Iyer would be sidelined for at least two months due to new medical assessments that emphasise the need for the cricket player to avoid high-intensity work. In the third ODI of the series against Australia, Shreyas Iyer landed awkwardly while taking a catch, resulting in the injury.

He will be constantly watched during his recuperation period and will adhere to a staged rehabilitation regimen. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reported that he “sustained a blunt injury to his abdomen, resulting in a laceration of his spleen with internal bleeding” in reference to the injury.

After that, Shreyas Iyer was transferred to the intensive care unit for additional monitoring.

Since coming back to India, he has been continuously monitored by medical professionals. According to India Today, he had an ultrasound scan earlier this week. Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, a well-known sports medicine expert, examined the findings.

The 30-year-old has been given permission to resume his regular daily activities and begin performing basic isometric exercises. But for at least a month, he has been told to refrain from any activities that would strain his abdomen. At the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, a planned USG scan will assist in directing the start of an organised rehabilitation program.

Shreyas Iyer is expected to miss the ODIs against South Africa and New Zealand at home since he will be out of action for at least two to three months, based on the current recovery window. After these series, his ability to play for the team will depend on how well he recovers.

Speaking of his most recent batting contest for his country, he scored 61 off 77 in the second game, which ended in a loss in Adelaide. After winning in Sydney, India lost the 50-over series with a score of 2-1. But they won the Twenty20 International series by a score of 2-1.

The Punjab Kings just decided to keep Shreyas Iyer, who led them to the IPL 2025 final, ahead of the auction for the following season.
