Hardik, Bumrah to Skip SA ODIs

India and South Africa will play each other in a three-match ODI series following their second Test match in Guwahati. Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya, though, might be unable to complete the task.

Star all-rounder Hardik, who is currently recovering from a quadriceps injury, is unlikely to play in the forthcoming ODI series, which starts on November 30, given the approaching T20 World Cup. For the time being, he is supposed to concentrate just on the shortest format.

Hardik missed the top match against bitter rivals Pakistan because of a quadriceps injury he suffered during the Asia Cup T20 in Dubai last September.

The talismanic speedster Bumrah, on the other hand, is also expected to be rested from the ODI series, which isn’t particularly significant in the lead-up to the major T20 tournament.

“Hardik is now recuperating nicely from his quadriceps injury. He is performing his RTP (Return To Play) exercises at the Centre of Excellence. He needs to increase his workload right now after recovering from a quadriceps injury, and playing 50 overs right away will be dangerous. The BCCI medical team and Hardik would concentrate on T20Is until the T20 World Cup, according to an anonymous BCCI source cited by India Today.

As the reigning winners, India will compete in the 2026 T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue took home the prized trophy for the second time under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. The performances by Bumrah and Hardik were particularly noteworthy during the main event.

Hardik made a bat and ball contribution. at the thrilling final at Bridgetown, Barbados, when India defeated South Africa by seven runs, he bowled the last over. Bumrah, meanwhile, finished with 15 scalps from eight games at an economy rate of 4.18 and an average of 8.27, earning him Player of the Tournament.

Following a five-match Twenty20 International series against India, South Africa’s trip of India will come to a conclusion. On December 9, the first Twenty20 International will take place at Cuttack’s Barabati Stadium.
