Raza Eyes Pakistan Upset for Final Spot

In a recent interview, Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza was asked if he believes that Pakistan is the second-best team in Asia and if defeating them would be considered an upset or the usual. The inquiry was made in advance of Zimbabwe’s match against Sri Lanka on Thursday, November 20 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in the ongoing Pakistan T20I tri-series 2025.

“I don’t really bother myself to think which is the most-ranked team in the Asian continent,” Raza replied.

Additionally, he declined to comment on the question, saying that he is there as his nation’s captain and that he is not permitted to share his personal thoughts on matters unrelated to their squad.

Given that I’m wearing a national jersey, all I can say is that Zimbabwe is Africa’s second-best squad. Which Asian team is ranked first or second doesn’t matter to me. When I’m not wearing my national jersey, I would address it. My entire concentration and attention is currently on a news conference for a Zimbabwean captain, and I should only respond to queries about Zimbabwe.

Whoever comes in first, second, third, fourth, fifth, or tenth place is irrelevant to me personally, Raza said.

In addition, Raza, who was born in Sialkot, stated that his primary goal is to challenge South Africa, the best team in Africa, and attempt to elevate Zimbabwe to the top of their own continent’s rankings. When asked if he believes Zimbabwe can upset the opposition and go to the final, Raza said he is confident in the Chevrons’ abilities and that nothing will upset him.

We want to improve on our ranking as the second-best team in Africa and want to compete against South Africa, the continent’s top team, as often as possible. You may be irritated because I sense from the room that you may not be giving us a good enough chance to get to the final. However, it will be a disappointment for you all. It wouldn’t be to me. We’ll get there, God willing,” Raza declared with assurance.
