English top-order batsman Zak Crawley is optimistic about his team’s preparation for the forthcoming Ashes, despite the opinions of many commentators and past cricket players. On November 21, the first Test match between the bitter rivals is set to start.
He underlined that the England vs. England Lions three-day warm-up game had been “good prep” in a number of ways, including adjusting to the flies and weather.
“Fortunately, I don’t have to worry about things like that. I simply try to show up and do my part for the team. It is, in my opinion, good preparation. We’re growing accustomed to the weather and the insects. According to India Today, Crawley said, “I think we’ll be ready for next week because it’s good preparation.”
Crawley also discussed his relationship with Perth, the city where the series opener will be played. He remembered playing for the Perth Scorchers in the 2023–2024 Big Bash League season at the Perth Stadium with fondness.
“I adore coming back to this town since it’s one of my favourite locations in the world. I feel like I have a connection here because my former hitting coach is from here, and I have a lot of friends here. I adore Perth. It will be more memorable because I was unable to play here with COVID the last time. I played for the Scorchers here, and Optus Stadium is an incredible venue. I want to see many English people there, and it will undoubtedly be one of the most memorable events of my career,” he continued.
England’s preparation for the five-match series in Australia has been the subject of much discussion. Before the series starts, the England and Wales Cricket Board has only scheduled one three-day match.
Crawley opened the scoring for the English team with 82 off 101 and 3 off 12.
Perth’s Lilac Hill Park is the venue for the game. On the last day of play, England needs to win by 168 runs with eight wickets remaining at tea.
