One of the oldest cricket grounds in India is the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, which is also known for having the most informed cricket fans.
However, a fan made an odd request of Shubman Gill’s father, Lakhwinder Singh, a fellow spectator at the pitch during the first Test match between India and South Africa. The admirer enquired as to when Lakhwinder will marry his son.
Lakhwinder Singh, who was seated nearby with a small child, was first greeted by the fan. The fan then asked when he was planning to marry his son, Shubman Gill. There is no pressure from his end, the father responded, saying that Shubman alone has the final say on the matter. A follow-up query from the fan asked if Shubman will marry Sara [Tendulkar], the India Test captain’s purported girlfriend.
Uncle Ji, shadi kab karwa rahe ho? Gill bhai ka? [Hi uncle, tell me when you plan to marry our Shubman brother]. Madam Sara, karwa rahe ho ki nahi The fan posted a video of the same thing online, which has already gone viral, and asked, “Are you getting her married to Sara or not?”

Earlier on the first day of the match, Gill, who is captaining India in his ninth Test match, was unable to secure a favourable toss result. In addition to setting a record for a rookie captain, he has now lost eight consecutive tosses. Nevertheless, Gill dismissed the issue with a smile, stating that the 2027 World Test Championship final may be his first-ever defeat as captain of India.
“I believe that the only toss I will win will be in the WTC finals, hopefully. Indeed. It seems like a nice surface. We’re hoping to extract that and perhaps we’ll get some movement early. The dressing room is quite lovely. “Every time we come out, this Test bunch is hungry and determined to perform,” Gill remarked during the toss.
