The primary reason given by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for turning down the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s invitation to play a T20 tri-series in December was player workload. Sri Lanka was supposed to play in the proposed T20I tri-series alongside Bangladesh and Pakistan.
It is known that important national players, like as Shaheen Shah Afridi and Babar Azam, would not have been able to play in the tri-series. Their other commitment to play in the Big Bash League is the reason behind this.
According to PCB Observer, there have been rumours circulating in recent days that Reon King, a former fast bowler for the West Indies and member of the ICC International Panel of Match Referees, may also officiate the T20I series.
PCB will shortly host the Lankans and Zimbabwe in a 20-over tri-series, which is set to begin on November 17. Pakistan is currently playing an ODI series against Sri Lanka at home. The remainder of the tournament, including the finals, will take place in Lahore, with the exception of the opening few games, which are scheduled to take place in Rawalpindi.
They recently defeated the Proteas in an all-format series. The Men in Green won both the ODIs and T20Is by a combined score of 2-1, but the Test series concluded with a 1-1 score. In his first assignment as Pakistan’s full-time captain, Shaheen secured a significant victory in the ODI series.
