Rashid Khan, the captain of Afghanistan’s cricket team, has finally ended days of rumours about his personal life. In a touching social media statement, the famous leg-spinner revealed that he is married and that the woman he is pictured with in recent viral pictures is his wife. The explanation followed suspicions that Rashid had secretly remarried based on pictures from a charity function.
Images of the cricket player sitting next to a woman dressed traditionally in Afghanistan during the opening of the Rashid Khan Charity Foundation in the Netherlands went viral on social media for a few days. Many users speculated about the cricketer’s dating status after assuming the photos were from a covert wedding ceremony. Rashid’s previous marriage in October 2024 in Kabul, where three of his brothers—Amir Khalil, Zakiullah, and Raza Khan—were all wedded on the same night, gave rise to the rumours. Rashid clarified the situation by addressing the speculations and announcing his second marriage in a message posted on Instagram.
“I was married to a woman who epitomises the love, peace, and collaboration I always wished for on August 2, 2025, and I started a new and significant chapter in my life. My wife and I just attended a charity function, and it’s distressing to witness assumptions being drawn from something so basic. The fact is simple: she is my wife, and we are united and have nothing to conceal. “Thank you to everyone who has been understanding, kind, and supportive,” Rashid Khan wrote on Instagram.

Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan will captain the West Indies series.
So, earlier this year, on August 2, 2025, the cricket player stated that he married for the second time. The picture that went viral and started the rumours was, interestingly, shot during the Rashid Khan Charity Foundation’s official opening in the Netherlands. Giving impoverished Afghan people access to safe drinking water, healthcare, and education is the foundation’s main goal. Together, Rashid and his spouse went to the event to highlight the foundation’s work. The cricket player has long been active in humanitarian causes and still uses his international reputation to support the Afghan people.
In the meantime, Rashid continues to be among the most reliable and effective players in the T20 format. He has taken 182 wickets at an average of 13.69 in 108 Twenty20 Internationals, making him one of the top wicket-takers. Afghanistan, under Rashid’s leadership, just missed out on a semi-final spot in the 2025 Asia Cup. In order to prepare for the T20 World Cup, which will be staged in India and Sri Lanka, the 27-year-old will next captain Afghanistan in the forthcoming Twenty20 International series against the West Indies in January 2026.
