While realizing the difficulty of playing away from home, Sri Lanka skipper Charith Asalanka is excited for the forthcoming ODI series against Pakistan. A tri-series will begin on November 17 after the three-match series, which runs from November 11 to November 15.
With a 2-0 clean sweep of Zimbabwe in their most recent ODI matches in August, which featured a Player of the Series effort from seasoned batsman Pathum Nissanka, Sri Lanka enters the series in strong form. Pakistan, meanwhile, will want to keep up their winning streak after defeating South Africa 2-1 in the ODI series earlier this month. The last time the two teams played each other was in the Asia Cup Super Fours, where Pakistan advanced to the final by defeating Sri Lanka.
When it comes to Pakistan, their home, and their circumstances, that series is always difficult. In their most recent series, Pakistan played excellent cricket, and so did we.
During the pre-match press conference, Asalanka stated, “We played in Zimbabwe 30 to 45 days ago and did really really well, especially our ODI side has been doing really well.”
While recuperating from an upper respiratory tract infection, Sri Lankan seamer Matheesha Pathirana will not be participating in the Pakistan trip. In order to keep the team’s bowling attack balanced, Asitha Fernando has been selected to take his spot for the forthcoming ODI series.
