Shreyas Iyer, a middle-order batsman for India, thanked everyone for their support and care while he recovered from a major injury he suffered during the recent tour of Australia. As Shreyas Iyer continues his journey to full health after being hospitalized in Sydney due to intestinal hemorrhage and a splenic laceration sustained during the third ODI match against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground on October 25, the update is a huge boost for Team India.
Shreyas Iyer grabbed his rib cage in agony as he made a catch while sprinting backwards from point to dismiss Alex Carey. The 30-year-old left the field right away and didn’t come back for the rest of the game. Emergency surgery was required when further tests at a hospital in Sydney showed abdominal bleeding and a shattered spleen.
“Sun treatment has been fantastic. “Thanks for all the love and care, I’m glad to be back,” Shreyas Iyer posted on his Instagram account on Monday, November 10.

Medical experts in Australia and India expressed happiness with Iyer’s progress, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed in a statement on November 1 that he had been released from a hospital in Sydney. The Board also disclosed that Rizwan Khan, Iyer’s team physician, stayed with Shreyas Iyer during his hospital stay in Sydney to supervise his care and recuperation.
In order to ensure that Iyer received top-notch care and medical attention during a crucial stage of his recuperation, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia expressed the board’s sincere gratitude to Dr. Kouroush Haghigi and his medical staff in Sydney as well as Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala in India.
Iyer has remained in Sydney after his release in order to meet with his medical team for follow-up appointments. He is anticipated to return to India shortly, according to the most recent information. But before making his international return, the right-hander will be sidelined for several months as he concentrates on full recuperation and match fitness.
If he is included in the side for the ODI series against South Africa, in which India will host the Proteas for three matches, it will be intriguing to watch. The first game of the series will take place in Ranchi on November 30. The following two matches will take place in Raipur and Visakhapatnam on December 3 and 6, respectively.
