Tilak Varma has been selected captain of India A, and Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will not play in the three one-day matches against South Africa A.
Ishan Kishan also gets a spot in the team, and Ruturaj Gaikwad rejoins the squad and is named vice-captain.
The selection of the wicketkeeper will be a major topic of discussion because Prabhsimran Singh performed well in the three one-day matches against Australia A. Shreyas Iyer captained the team in Kanpur during the series, right before the senior squad left for Australia. Iyer, though, is still recuperating from a spleen injury he suffered during the Sydney ODI.
After being left out of the Test squad to play South Africa, Prasidh Krishna has been added, and Akash Deep will take his place. Given that they have a good deal of international experience, Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana, who are both now with Australia’s T20I team, are included in what appears to be a strong pace assault.
With an emphasis on Abhishek Sharma and Riyan Parag, who was selected Player of the Series last month, the core squad from the Australia A series has been kept. The A squad does not contain Sanju Samson. Despite having been selected captain for the Australia A series prior to a reshuffle brought on by Iyer’s participation, Rajat Patidar is also left out. Patidar is anticipated to represent Madhya Pradesh as Ranji.
The Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot will host all three of the One-Day Internationals (ODIs) on November 13, 16, and 19. Jitesh Sharma will lead another India A team competing in the Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament in Qatar at the same time. Ramandeep Singh, Priyansh Arya, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi are members of that team.
Throughout this time, the senior Indian squad will play South Africa in a two-match Test series. Following that, the senior teams will play a three-match ODI series beginning on November 30. The A series will help both teams prepare for those matches.
India A’s one-day team squad:
Prabhsimran Singh (WK), Tilak Varma (C), and Ruturaj Gaikwad (VC), Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Ishan Kishan (WK), Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Vipraj Nigam, Manav Suthar, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Khaleel Ahmed
