Harmanpreet Strong Message After World Cup Win

When India defeated South Africa by 52 runs on Sunday in Navi Mumbai to win their first Women’s World Cup, ending their long-awaited drought, captain Harmanpreet Kaur sent an emotional statement.

India’s position in history was cemented when Kaur made a spectacular catch to dismiss Nadine de Klerk off Deepti Sharma’s bowling in the crucial closing seconds of the thrilling match. Fans, past women’s team mainstays, players, and support staff all shed happy tears as they celebrated.

The victorious captain shared a photo of herself sleeping with the trophy next to her, as is customary at important athletic events. Following the first big victory of her remarkable 16-year career, Kaur posted a picture of herself holding the World Cup trophy with a powerful statement printed on her T-shirt.

The adage “Cricket is a gentleman’s game” was featured on the jersey, however it was significantly altered. The term “everyone’s” was used in place of “gentleman’s.” “Everyone’s game, cricket is a gentleman’s” was printed on her shirt. Kaur wrote, “Some dreams are shared by a billion people,” as the caption for the photo. Cricket is a game for everyone because of this.

Shafali Verma’s 87 off 78 balls and Deepti Sharma’s 58 helped India reach 298/7. South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt scored a brave 101 off 98 balls, but Deepti’s bowling ensured India’s historic win.

India’s players celebrated with a victory lap at the Dr. DY Patil Sport Academy in Navi Mumbai. Legends Jhulan Goswami and Mithali Raj joined the team on the pitch and tearfully lifted the trophy. In the stands, former Indian captain Rohit Sharma applauded Kaur and her squad for their historic win at home.
