On Friday, October 31, Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and match referee Jeff Crowe laughed together after India lost their fifth straight toss. The Melbourne Cricket Ground is currently hosting the second Twenty20 International of the five-match series. In order to bring luck, he was also observed urging his teammates to worship the god.
All of the Men in Blue’s tosses were lost when they lost the ODI leg of the series by a score of 2-1. The coin landed in the hosts’ favor even in the first Twenty20 International in Canberra, which ended in a no-result because of the constant rain.
On the current white-ball tour, neither Shubman Gill nor Suryakumar Yadav have had much luck.
However, Mitchell Marsh has won 19 T20I tosses and chosen to field first in each of the 19 instances, thanks to the toss before the second T20I.
Gill and Suryakumar were undefeated going into the rain-shortened match in Canberra, scoring 37(20) and 39(24), respectively. After just 9.4 overs were bowled, the series’ first match was ultimately called off. Prior to bad weather taking over, India scored 97/1. The only batter to fall was Abhishek Sharma (19 off 14).
Suryakumar Yadav just finished a brilliant T20I career by winning the 2025 Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates. Despite his lackluster batting performance, his wise leadership made sure India won the championship without losing any games during the season. His goal will be to perform well at bat in the ongoing series in Australia.
In relation to the second game, Suryakumar Yadav declared that India would use the same squad. Marsh, however, declared that Josh Philippe would be replaced on the squad sheet for the evening by Matthew Short. Ben Austin, a teenage cricket player from Australia, died tragically on Tuesday after being hit by a ball in the nets. A moment of silence was observed in his honor.
