Virat Kohli, the former captain of India, had special words for the Indian women’s team after they defeated “mighty” Australia.
On Thursday, October 30, the Indian women’s team defeated Australia in the World Cup semi-final to go to the final. This was one of those victories that can alter a team’s history.
After the reigning champions scored 338 runs batting first, almost no one gave the Indian women a chance. Australia came into the match as the clear favorites. However, India went on to accomplish the greatest chase in women’s cricket history, reaching the target with nine balls remaining.
Leading the attack was Jemimah Rodrigues, who finished undefeated at 127* and helped the side cross the finish line to break Australia’s 15-match World Cup winning streak.
What an accomplishment for our squad to defeat such a formidable foe as Australia. Jemimah gave a remarkable effort in a crucial game, and the girls had a fantastic pursuit. Resilience, faith, and passion in action.
Team India, good job,” Kohli posted on X.
The World Cup final between India and South Africa is scheduled on Sunday, November 2. Since neither team has ever held the title, a first-time champion is assured.
