Mandhana’s reaction goes viral after dismissal

In the second semi-final of the Women’s World Cup 2025, Smriti Mandhana was taken aback when the large screen at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai revealed that she had snatched the ball down the on-side. On Thursday, October 30, at Navi Mumbai, Smriti got out after scoring 24 runs per ball.

The second ball of the tenth over in the run-chase was when the crucial event occurred. Kim Garth bowled the delivery down the leg side. After neatly gathering it, Alyssa Healy filed an appeal right away. A wide was called on the field. Healy & Co. went upstairs to contest the ruling in spite of this.

Almost certain that it was a wide, Smriti and Jemimah Rodrigues conversed mid-pitch while the UltraEdge took a few moments to load. The technology, however, said differently.

Mandhana was caught saying to Jemimah, “bat nahi laga” (there was no bat), in complete shock, and then he walked back, confused by what had happened. The Australians, meanwhile, let forth a yell of joy.

Shafali Verma (10 off 5) was Garth’s first wicket of the evening, followed by Smriti. Shafali hit a boundary on the over’s very first ball, trapping him in front. It was all Jemimah Rodrigues and captain Harmanpreet Kaur after that till Kaur holed out to Ashleigh Gardner at deep midwicket in the 36th over.

Australia was bowled out for 338 in 49.5 overs during the first innings. Phoebe Litchfield hit the highest score of 119 off 93 in a knock that included three sixes and 17 fours. The two half-centurions were Gardner (63 off 45) and Ellyse Perry (77 off 88). The best bowler was Shree Charani. After 10 overs, the left-arm spinner’s final statistics were 2/49.
