"Had a good discussion - the ACB, myself, and all the stakeholders and top management - and we've come to an agreement on how to move forward," he said.

Jonathan Trott says all ACB confusion sorted

Afghanistan’s head coach Jonathan Trott has announced that all misunderstandings with the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) have been cleared up in advance of the team’s Twenty20 International series against Zimbabwe, which begins in Harare on October 29.

Regarding team selection and interaction with board officials, Jonathan Trott recognized that there was a communication breakdown, but he underlined that those issues had been resolved. His remarks come as Afghanistan is looking to gain momentum before the T20 World Cup and is keen to get back on track after a dismal Asia Cup campaign and a Test series loss.

We had a productive conversation and have decided on a course of action. This includes the ACB, myself, all stakeholders, and upper management. India Today quotes Jonathan Trott as saying, “I think it’s been resolved, and any miscommunication or misunderstanding has been sorted out,” prior to the series in Harare.

“The lines of communication are now open, and we’re all cooperating to prepare for a formidable Zimbabwean team and look beyond that to the subcontinent’s T20 World Cup,” he continued.

According to Jonathan Trott , recent talks with the ACB have been fruitful and advantageous, enhancing understanding between the parties and future planning. Even though ACB authorities have stated that they plan to keep him on as head coach after the T20 World Cup, the former England cricket player emphasized that his current priorities are still the team’s short-term objectives.

He reiterated his dedication to Afghanistan cricket till the 2026 World Cup was over and discussed his long-term goal of assembling a reliable, competitive team that can compete with the best in the world.

“I believe that these conversations can occasionally be beneficial since they highlight areas for improvement on both sides. “The communication has been excellent over the past few days; I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it and am eager for the upcoming months,” Jonathan Trott stated.

“Over the past few days, some excellent conversations have taken place. I’m clearly looking forward to the future and the upcoming months, as I have a contract that runs through the 2026 World Cup. We need to recover from the Asia Cup, even though we were dissatisfied with how it happened. The boys have been training hard,” he continued.

Afghanistan has made incredible strides under Trott’s leadership in recent years, as seen by their maiden appearance in the 2024 T20 World Cup semifinals and their noteworthy series victories against Bangladesh and South Africa. In the short run, Trott emphasized the team’s goal of sustaining consistency and gaining momentum in preparation for the international competitions the following year. A three-match Twenty20 International series between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe is scheduled for October 29, October 31, and November 3 in Harare.

“We’re here to win and to build as much momentum as possible in the last few months leading up to the World Cup,” Jonathan Trott stated.
