Since the Asia Cup victory kicked off the evaluation of team combinations, India skipper Suryakumar Yadav has stated that the limited overs team is eagerly anticipating the challenge presented by the T20 World Cup 2026. With the five-match series against Australia coming up, Suryakumar thinks the Men in Blue are assembling a future-ready squad that will help them win the World Cup again.
Regarding his performance in Australia, the 35-year-old has stated that he has been putting a lot of effort into improving his fitness and game, and he had some successful training sessions before the series started. Given the abundance of adaptable choices in the lineup, he thinks that batting positions may continue to shift, but they will always be done with the best interests of the team in mind.
“Australia is a stunning country in which to play cricket. We are reassembling. The team looks great, and the vibe is positive. The past two days were enjoyable on the ground. I am eagerly anticipating this competition. I have put in a lot of work. solid two or three sessions here, then a solid several back at home. I bike for this, and I live for it. It’s more crucial to consider what the team expects from you in various circumstances when working toward a goal. I also approach each game individually. “And I think it will be a good thing if it starts,” Suryakumar told BCCI.
“So many possibilities are available. Everyone is adaptable everywhere, from top to No. 7, and you have fast bowling and spinners. From any position, they can bat. Therefore, winning for India is the only objective, regardless of the combination. He continued, “The team is striving for something truly exceptional.”
It’s nice to have Jasprit Bumrah on the team: Suryakumar
As the Men in Blue are ready to face the gauntlet of a five-match series in Australia, the Mumbai native also discussed the inclusion of elite bowler Jasprit Bumrah in the 16-man roster. The Indian captain added that the team has already begun preparing for the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will take place at home.
“I believe that Japrit Bumrah has maintained his position at the top of cricket for the past several years by playing his game in this manner. It’s good to have him in the team for our match in Australia. The 2026 T20 World Cup is being built up to. However, it’s also a terrific obstacle to have moving forward. Additionally, I believe we will have a great time playing 5 T20,” Suryakumar said.
On Wednesday, October 29, the Manuka Oval in Canberra will host the opening game of the 20-over series.
