Shubman Gill Lauds Harshit Rana’s Role in India’s ODI Team

The usefulness of an all-rounder with a fast bowl, like Harshit Rana, was recently discussed by Shubman Gill. In the third ODI of the 50-over series against Australia, India defeated Australia by nine wickets in Sydney, with Harshit emerging as the team’s best bowler.

At a position when runs with the bat are a bonus for the team, Shubman Gill described how special it was to have a cricket player like Harshit. He also emphasized the value of Harshit’s hit-the-deck bowling on wickets that don’t provide fast bowlers with much.

We greatly value the No. 8 spot, especially when you have a player who can score 20 to 25 runs for you. There aren’t many long fast bowlers who can bowl 140 clicks or more. On these kinds of wickets, or even the World Cup ones in South Africa when there is little movement off the field in the middle overs, players like Harshit become crucial,” Shubman Gill said at the post-match press conference.

Harshit and the spinners stopped the momentum that the Australian top-order batsmen had initially built, according to India’s ODI captain.

“Australia had started the game with a great start. It was very encouraging to watch the amount of work Harshit put into his bowling after the spinners applied pressure by limiting the run flow and then Harshit came in and bowled with all of his might,” he continued.

After losing the opening two games of the series in Adelaide and Perth, India recovered well to restore their honor in Sydney. All of the players put forth their best effort. Australia took 46.4 overs to be bowled out for 236. By taking matters into their own hands, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma created an undefeated 168-run partnership for the second wicket.

The T20I series will now be Shubman Gill & Co.’s focus following an overall lackluster ODI assignment.

Starting on Wednesday, October 29, and lasting until Saturday, November 8, are the dates for the T20Is. Shubman Gill, who only managed 24 runs, 9 runs, and 10 runs in the three ODIs, will be hoping for a better series.
