Litton Das Set to Lead Bangladesh After Injury Comeback

With Litton Das rejoining the team for the opening two Twenty20 International matches against the West Indies in Chattogram next week, Bangladesh has their T20I skipper back. A side strain sustained during the Asia Cup last month had kept him out of Bangladesh’s last five Twenty20 Internationals.

Litton Das missed two Asia Cup games and Bangladesh’s 3-0 series victory against Afghanistan in Sharjah, where Jaker Ali captained the team.

The 28-year-old Mohammad Saifuddin, who showed off his ball skills in the third Twenty20 International against Afghanistan by capturing three wickets for 15 runs in three overs, will have to make way for his comeback.

Also excluded by the selectors was Soumya Sarkar, who was included in the squad against Afghanistan but did not participate because he was unable to obtain a UAE visa. Despite hitting 91 off 86 balls in the third ODI against the West Indies in Dhaka, he gets substituted by Parvez Hossain Emon.

The team’s nucleus is still in place after they recently defeated Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the Netherlands. In the top order, Tanzid Hasan, Parvez Hossain Emon, and Saif Hassan will assist Litton. Shamim Hossain, Jaker Ali, Nurul Hasan, and Towhid Hridoy are in the middle order.

Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, and Rishad Hossain will make up Bangladesh’s spin attack, while Mustafizur Rahman, Tazim Hasan Sakib, Taskin Ahmed, and Shoriful Islam will make up their pace attack.

Bangladesh will play the three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) in Chattogram on October 27, 29, and 31. They hope to keep up their impressive start to the current white-ball season. Bangladesh defeated the West Indies 2-1 in the ODI series earlier, with one match going to the Super Over.
