Steve Smith Says ‘Takes Me Two Hits’ Ahead of Ashes Series

The legendary batsman from Australia, Steve Smith, is preparing for another Ashes season. Following a brief hiatus in New York after his time in The Hundred, Smith returned to Sydney and quickly re-established his groove. In the first Test, which begins in Perth on November 21, Smith will captain Australia while Pat Cummins battles to recover from a back injury.

In contrast to previous years, Steve Smith has been unconventional in his Ashes preparation. The right-handed hitter is putting more emphasis on mental toughness than on overpracticing. Smith took on bowlers from New South Wales at Cricket Central after enduring throwdowns on the way back from New York. Before the Ashes, Steve Smith will play in two Sheffield Shield matches against Victoria and Queensland, but he already feels like he is at his best.

It takes me two tries to get things straight, to be honest. I think it’s time for me to leave. I feel as though I’m progressing quite well. I feel comfortable. I’ve been working out really hard. In an effort to gain a little strength, I’ve been lifting a lot. Additionally, I completed all of my strength tests yesterday, and they are all at their highest level ever. Steve Smith stated, “I feel like I’m going good,” according to ESPNcricinfo.

Let’s hope he gets it right: Steve Smith

Since Cummins hasn’t started bowling again, Steve Smith is anticipated to take over as captain once more. Five out of six Test matches have been won by Australia during his interim leadership.

We’ll see where everything ends up with him because things may change fast. The squad is undoubtedly better off with him on it, and he was in a good mood despite having a few things to finish and improve his bowling. It’s ideal for the team if he can perform well and plays three, five, or two tests, or as many as we can get out of him,” Smith continued.

Additionally, the seasoned player dismissed any worries regarding Cummins’ absence, voicing faith in the bowling depth that is led by Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Scott Boland.

“I believe Scott Boland, who is undoubtedly one of the world’s top bowlers, is a decent replacement for us. We’re excellent in Australia, where he has an absurd record. Then, it’s clear that Starc and Hazlewood have performed admirably for a long period as well. In my opinion, it doesn’t cause too much disruption,” he continued.
