Ravindra Jadeja Unsure About ODI Omission Despite 2027 WC Hopes

For the 2027 ODI World Cup, senior players other than Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are being targeted. Remarkable all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has also stated his desire to play in the 50-over squad and support the Indian team in their bid to win the World Cup in Africa. Jadeja was notably left out of the ODI team just before the Australian tour.

Jadeja stated that, like other cricket players, he hopes to win an ODI World Cup before ending his career when he was questioned about his feelings on his non-selection during a news conference on the second day of the current Test match against the West Indies. Speaking with captain and chief selector Shubman Gill after being dropped, Jadeja received an explanation for his exclusion from the Australia series.

“Look, I don’t have control over this. Naturally, I would like to play in the World Cup, but ultimately, the team management, selectors, coach, and captain had various reasons for not keeping me in this series. Following the conclusion of the play on the second day, Jadeja informed reporters at the press conference, “There must be some reason behind it.”

They also talked to me, so I wasn’t caught off guard when the team learnt I wouldn’t be there. That the coach, selector, and captain discussed their thoughts and the rationale behind them with me is therefore a good thing. That makes me happy,” Jadeja continued.

In addition, Ravindra Jadeja senior cricket player stated that he has enough of opportunities ahead of him until the 2027 World Cup, so his exclusion from the Australia series does not mean all is lost. He hopes to continue doing what he has done to the best of his abilities throughout his international career and realise his goal of winning the coveted trophy.

“I will undoubtedly attempt to continue doing what I have been doing for the past several years whenever the next chance arises. Additionally, as you mentioned, there are a number of ODIs before to the World Cup, if I have the opportunity to go. Indian cricket will undoubtedly benefit if I perform well in those and am given the chance. Yes, everyone’s dream is to win the World Cup. This time, if at all possible, we’ll strive to complete what was left unfinished because we were a little short the last time in the 50-over World Cup,” Ravindra Jadeja said.

As the selection committee under Agarkar’s leadership has plans to assemble a side with an eye towards the future, Shubman Gill has taken Rohit Sharma’s place as the new ODI captain. Virat and Rohit were able to hold onto their spots in the team, however Ravindra Jadeja, who scored the game-winning runs in India’s most recent ODI, was not included in the 15-man roster for the series, which starts in Perth on October 19.

The first One-Day International will kick off the three-match series, with the second and third games to be contested in Adelaide and Sydney on October 23 and October 25, respectively. KL Rahul is the team’s speciality wicketkeeper-batter, while Shreyas Iyer serves as vice-captain for Shubman Gill’s squad.

In addition to Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, an all-rounder, is also sidelined because of an injury.

Axar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul (wicketkeeper) are the members of the India ODI team travelling to Australia.
