Yashasvi Jaiswal was run out in the second over on Day 2 of the second Test match between India and the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, denying him a fantastic chance to record his third double century.
After firmly pushing a full delivery from Jayden Seales back to mid-off, Jaiswal immediately started aiming for a quick single. Nevertheless, Shubman Gill pivoted, displaying absolutely no desire to approach the striker’s end. When Yashasvi Jaiswal turned to go back to the crease after spotting it late, he failed miserably. Before smashing the stumps, Tevin Imlach raced in to receive the ball after it was thrown in at the wicketkeeper’s end.
Telling his captain that it was his call, Yashasvi Jaiswal was clearly disappointed.
The southpaw had to leave after hitting 22 boundaries and scoring an incredible 175 from 258 balls. His nighttime total was only two runs higher. He would be pleased with his performance even though he was unable to reach the double century, particularly after being removed for 36 in the first Test match against the Caribbean team last week at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

What is this from Yashasvi Jaiswal to run after hitting straight to fielder that too in a test match when there is no pressure of runs? Blind running at MCG costed him century and then happened the collapse and now at Delhi where 200 was cakewalk!#INDvWIhttps://t.co/DKYlfQ0fSK

The Asian giants are on track to compile a massive first-innings total after Shubman won the toss and chose to bat first, even though they lost Yashasvi Jaiswal wicket early in the match. The Indian captain is on track to reach his eighth half-century.
In the meantime, Nitish Kumar Reddy was elevated to No. 5 by the home team. The 22-year-old all-rounder, who was not given the opportunity to bat in the first Test, will try to earn some experience.
