Rishabh Pant Gears Up for Delhi vs Hyderabad Opener

Rishabh Pant suffered a severe blow during the fourth Test of the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy when a ball from Chris Woakes hurt his foot. He showed courage by coming out to bat just the next day, and even then, he was clearly in pain.

But the decision only served to exacerbate the vice captain’s and wicketkeeper-batter’s problems, as he was barred from playing cricket for at least eight weeks at the time. He didn’t participate in the rest of the series after that, but he couldn’t get better in time.

At first, it was anticipated that Rishabh Pant would be ready for the current home series against the West Indies. He was unable to fully recuperate, though, even for the forthcoming white-ball series against Australia Down Under.

According to Cricbuzz, the batsman-wicketkeeper reportedly suffered a fifth metatarsal fracture. Recovery from this type of damage often takes at least six weeks. After suffering this injury, players usually recover and return in a few weeks.

According to a person familiar with the situation, Rishabh Pant will shortly return to action.

Rishabh Pant will take a fitness test on Friday, October 10 at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. There is heightened expectation that he will pass the test and return to action shortly. According to a Delhi District Cricket Association source, Rishabh Pant inclusion in the season-opening match will depend on his level of fitness.

“Fitness will be the deciding factor. He is anticipated to pass the test and participate in the match against Hyderabad. According to the DDCA source, he will undoubtedly be available for the second game against Himachal Pradesh starting on October 25.

Regarding playing in the domestic match, it is believed that the left-handed batter has spoken with DDCA officials. Pant will be hoping to lead India to victory in the forthcoming Test series against South Africa, which is scheduled for November.
