Shubman Gill Backs Nitish Reddy for More Opportunities

Shubman Gill has discussed why Nitish Kumar Reddy should be given more playing time and why he should be given more chances at home. Only one of the eight Test matches that Nitish has played so far has taken place at home. Shubman Gill pronounced it “unfair” that a player could only play when travelling. In addition, he highlighted Nitish’s significance as a cricket player and discussed his versatility.

Talks concerning that have been place. When it comes to helping pacers away from home, we lack third- and fourth seamers on the tracks. Only playing him abroad would be unfair. In particular, if he just plays abroad, we won’t be playing in foreign settings very often for the next 1.5 years, which would mean that he won’t have many opportunities.

According to The Tribune, Shubman Gill said, “We want to be able to support a player who can bat and bowl 10 to 15 overs for us in a day.”

“The team management would want to help nurture him by giving Nitish as many chances at home as possible,” Shubman Gill said, highlighting the importance of Nitish’s performances during the 2024–25 tour of Australia.

“He clearly has a lot of skill and potential, as evidenced by the way he batted in Australia. In order to support him, we want to give him as much playing time as possible, particularly in India. We will keep that in mind, he continued, “depending on the game and the circumstances in which we believe he can bat up or down the order.

To date, Nitish has represented India in four Twenty20 Internationals and eight Test matches. In the recent innings triumph against the West Indies in the series opener in Ahmedabad, he played a part. Shubman Gill remarks may indicate that Nitish also begins the second game. On Friday, October 10, the second game is set to start in Delhi.
