For the first time since 2022, left-hander Matthew Renshaw is back in the ODI team after putting up strong one-day performances for Australia A and Queensland.
Along with Mitch Owen, who had a concussion during the T20 leg against South Africa, and Matt Short, who missed the last series due to a side injury, Mitchell Starc is back in the ODI team.
After missing the first game due to his call-up to the New Zealand tour, Alex Carey will miss the second round of the Sheffield Shield against Queensland at the Adelaide Oval in Perth.
Nathan Ellis, who missed the T20 match because of the birth of his first child, and Josh Inglis, who suffered a minor calf injury, are back in the squad. Because of the wrist injury he sustained on the tour to New Zealand, Glenn Maxwell is currently unavailable.
CA selects the team for the first two T20Is and ODIs.
After the ODI phase of the Indian series, Cameron Green will continue to train with Western Australia in anticipation of the Test summer.
We have selected a team for the ODI series and the first two T20 series matches because there will be some management throughout the latter part of the series as players get ready for the summer through Sheffield Shield cricket, said Selector George Bailey.
“We are trying to find a balance to ensure that we simultaneously prepare certain individuals for the Test series ahead, but the majority of the T20 squad will stay together as it’s an important period in the build-up to the World Cup next year.”
