It is believed that Sunil Joshi, a former Indian cricket player, has resigned as the spin-bowling coach for the Punjab Kings. Before being reappointed in 2023, he was a member of head coach Anil Kumble’s staff between 2020 and 2022. It is thought that Joshi wrote the franchise to explain his choice. A franchise representative announced his departure.
“He informed us in writing that he would not be available for the upcoming season. He is a decent man, and the franchise gets along well with him. However, we don’t want to impede someone’s professional development,” the franchise official said, as Cricbuzz reported.
Sunil Joshi is also thought to have personally notified Ponting.
The two are thought to get along well, and Ponting would have preferred Joshi to remain with the team. On the other hand, Ponting is said to have valued Joshi’s choice.
Sunil Joshi joined the Board of Control for Cricket in India as a chief selector following his initial employment with PBKS. Later on, he became a selector for the BCCI. Sunil Joshi, who represented India in 15 Test matches and 69 One-Day Internationals, has been Uttar Pradesh’s head coach.
In terms of Joshi’s global career, it lasted from 1996 until 2001. The left-arm spinner claimed 69 ODI wickets and 41 Test wickets. Sunil Joshi took 615 wickets at an economy rate of 2.42 and an average of 25.12 before entering his First-Class career.
In the first IPL season, he played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. One of the highlights of Joshi’s career was his incredible 10-6-6-5 period against South Africa in a 50-over match.
