The renowned Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has shared the insightful counsel that former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni provided him during their initial meeting. Mohammed Siraj, who debuted for India in November 2017, recalled that Dhoni had cautioned him against listening to what others thought of his performance.
“I recall MS Dhoni telling me, ‘Kisiki baato mein nahin aana,’ when I first joined the India squad. Toh poori duniya tere saath rahegi, jab tu achha karega, aur jab kharaab karega, yahi duniya tujhe gaali degi. (Avoid listening to what other people have to say. The world will support you while you’re doing well, and they’ll mistreat you when you’re not,” Mohammed Siraj said, as reported by Indian Express.
When it comes to supporting players, the cricket community is erratic, Mohammed Siraj said.
In closing, he acknowledged that he has learnt to tune out the outside world and just listens to what his loved ones think.
“The trolling was awful, indeed. “There is no bowler like Siraj,” the globe and your admirers will say when you perform. “Arey, what kind of bowler is this?” they will ask if you don’t perform in the following game. What’s the point of going out and driving with your father? In one match, you are a hero, but in another, you are a zero (laughs). How soon do people change? I made the decision that I don’t require affirmation or the opinion of others. It matters to me what my family and teammates think of me; they are important individuals. He went on, “I don’t give a damn what people think.”
Since making his debut with the Men in Blue, Siraj has only gotten better. He is a member of India’s red-ball team for the current home Test series against the West Indies. Mohammed Siraj has advanced to become one of the unit’s primary frontline pacers.
