Before their Women’s World Cup match against India on Sunday, October 5, Pakistan Women’s captain Fatima Sana has allayed any concerns about her team’s focus.
Additionally, Fatima Sana emphasised that the World Cup and its importance are far more significant than any off-field distractions.
Fatima Sana remarks follow increased hostilities between the two cricket teams during the Asia Cup for men.
Without a certain, the first thing is that, when we look at ourselves, we resemble a family—20 or 22 people in one. We are not as concerned with what is going on outside, yet we do observe what is going on. The idea is that we are still focused on the game because, of course, every player looks forward to the World Cup. According to India Today, Fatima said, “We try that since we are here, we focus on what we came here for.”
The bowling all-rounder also mentioned that the team’s primary objective is to perform as well as they can while attempting to keep good relations with opposing teams. She appeared to be totally focused on her team’s and her own objectives.
“Obviously, playing is our top priority. The game is the main focus when we come here. Regardless of the spirit of the game, we strive to keep positive relationships with other teams. The first thing is to focus on why we are here,” she continued. “And certainly, back in the 2022 World Cup, when both sides spent time with Bismah Maroof’s daughter, we as players appreciated the mix-up the way Bismah ma’am and Fatima Sana did.”
In their tournament-opening match, the Pakistani women suffered a crushing defeat to Bangladesh, losing by seven wickets with 113 balls remaining. India, who have won all 11 of their ODI matches since 2005, will be the opponent Pakistan looks to defeat for the first time.
