Due to a hand injury, all-around player Flora Devonshire will not be participating in the Women’s World Cup in 2025. Fast-bowling all-rounder Hannah Rowe has taken the place of the spin bowling all-rounder.
When fielding during training, Devonshire cut her left hand, which will likely take two to three weeks to recover. Rowe, who replaced her, has played in 60 ODIs for New Zealand and has participated in two ODI World Cups.
Ben Sawyer, the head coach of New Zealand, stated, “We’re all feeling for Flora Devonshire,” It’s unfortunate that her tournament is coming to an early conclusion because she put a lot of effort into earning her place in our squad. Hannah Rowe is a senior player that we are happy to call up.
Hannah has an all-around skill set and has experience in subcontinental settings, but she is certainly not a perfect substitute for Flora Devonshire.
Before joining the group in Guwahati, Rowe is scheduled to arrive in Indore on October 7. On October 6, New Zealand will play South Africa.
