In a social media post on Friday, October 3, former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif took aim at KL Rahul‘s detractors. KL scored a Test century against the West Indies in the opening Test of the current series, extending his impressive red-ball cricket form.
Kaif said that Rahul’s “hard work” and “belief” enabled him to bounce back from each setback he encountered.
“How perceptions shift after a few innings of scoring! His detractors now claim that no one is like him. Recall that KL perseverance and faith are his greatest assets. That is what motivates him to get back up after every setback and keep going in spite of the pressure,” Kaif wrote on his X account.
Rahul’s sub-40 average was recently clarified by former India opener Aakash Chopra. By the conclusion of the forthcoming home Test series against South Africa, he set a goal for the seasoned player to raise his Test average to at least 42.
This, in my opinion, is a crucial series for KL Rahul; he is not at all suited to an average of 35. It is incorrect, and he must write his name in this series if he wants to improve. He batted in such manner today. He is the best player in international cricket at using the backfoot punch. Rahul has to raise his average to 42–45 during this series and the one in South Africa, Aakash Chopra posted on his YouTube channel.
Rahul scored his second Test century at home with a hundred runs off 197 balls, including 12 fours. On Day 2 at Stumps, India led by 286 runs at 448/5 in 128 overs.
In addition to Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja (104* off 176) and Dhruv Jurel (125 off 210) both achieved hundreds. In order to have enough time to bowl the West Indies out in their second innings and win the match, India will try to quickly increase their lead on the third day.
