All No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for Pakistani players wishing to play in T20 franchise competitions abroad have been halted by the PCB . The board has not disclosed the precise rationale for its action.
Players and agents alike were notified in advance by a notice issued by PCB CEO Sumair Ahmad Syed.
The PCB intends to bind NOCs to a performance-based structure, with domestic and national results expected to be given greater weight, according to an ESPNcricinfo report. The timeline for such a review, in which greater incentives are given for domestic and national performances, is not specified. We do not yet know the specifics of NOCs or any potential exceptions to them.
“With the approval of Chairman PCB, all No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for players with respect to participation in leagues and other out of country tournaments are hereby put on hold until further orders,” according to the notice, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.
The 2025–26 Big Bash League is scheduled to feature seven Pakistani players, including Shaheen Afridi, Babar Azam, and Muhammad Rizwan. There are eighteen Pakistani players in the ILT20 auction, including players like Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, and Naseem Shah.
Pakistan is coming off a defeat in the 2025 Asia Cup final. On Sunday, September 28, they were defeated by India by five wickets in the summit match played in Dubai. Notably, they lost to bitter rivals India in each of their three losses in the most recent round of the continental championship.
In a multi-format series that includes two Test matches, three Twenty20 Internationals, and three One-Day Internationals, the Green Shirts will now welcome South Africa. The PCB recently announced the Test squad. Later in the year, Pakistan will host a Twenty20 International series against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
