One of the cheekiest responses to the turmoil that followed the match came from India’s mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who was instrumental in the title match. Despite the strange post-match controversy that followed India’s triumph over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final, the players continued to celebrate in their own unique ways.
In Dubai, India won by five wickets, but there was no customary trophy-lifting ceremony. Following the Indian team’s refusal to accept the cup and medals, Mohsin Naqvi, the president of the ACC and chairman of the PCB, allegedly walked away with them. Khalid Al Zarooni, the vice-chairman of the Emirates Cricket Board, was asked by the players to deliver the trophy instead, but the request was denied, depriving the winners of their proper memento of triumph.
Varun Chakravarthy found a hilarious way to express his feelings after it was announced that the actual trophy was in Naqvi’s hotel room.
He sarcastically pointed to the missing tea cup while posting a picture of himself lounging in bed with it on the side table on X on September 29. Additionally, he posted a picture of the Indian team feigning to raise a fictitious award at the deserted podium following the departure of the officials.
” Akkha duniya ek taraf, aur mere india ek taraf ” 🇮🇳🙂

Varun Chakravarthy has a history of making fun of tea cups. He joked about the protracted road to success by posting a picture of himself drinking coffee next to the 2025 Champions Trophy after India won it. Following India’s safety worries about visiting Pakistan, the Champions Trophy, which was originally planned to be held exclusively by Pakistan, was changed to a hybrid competition with the UAE serving as co-host.
Players Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, and Abhishek Sharma also posted altered photos with trophy emojis, proving that Varun Chakravarthy wasn’t the only one who made fun of the situation. In his article, India captain Suryakumar Yadav underlined that the champions, not the actual trophy, are what are remembered.
