Kamran Akmal, a former cricket player for Pakistan, has urged the Pakistan Cricket Board to immediately sever ties with India and the BCCI. In the just finished Asia Cup 2025, the Men in Blue defeated Pakistan three times.
Following their refusal to shake hands with Pakistan prior to or following any of their three matches against them, as well as their refusal to accept the trophy from ACC and PCB president Mohsin Naqvi following their victory in the final, Kamran Akmal demanded a boycott of India. He asked other cricket organisations to take his viewpoint into account.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board ought to declare right now that we should never play India. Let’s wait and see what the ICC does. What further proof do you require after this? Since the head of the ICC is also in control of the BCCI, what steps would Jay Shah take? The other boards must agree that this is not possible in cricket. People don’t play sports at their homes.
“No money will come if people don’t play them,” Kamran Akmal said in an interview with ARY News.
Kamran Akmal also made a statement against the Indian team’s “cheap harkatein (antics)”. He was undoubtedly referring to India’s unwillingness to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, the PCB’s chairperson and president of the ACC, due of a personal grudge.
“It is in everyone’s best interest to control these issues as soon as possible. A impartial committee comprising Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand must be established, free from Pakistan and India, and tasked with deciding what should be done in light of everything that has transpired during this tournament. We will continue to witness these cheap harkatein (antics) from India. They have caused as much harm to cricket as they possibly could, as we have seen in this tournament. The presidents of PCB and ACC made the correct decision: the president alone will present the prize, whether you accept it or not. India would end up being the cricket world’s laughing stock,” Kamran Akmal continued.
India defeated Pakistan with five wickets and two balls remaining, resulting in Pakistan finishing as the competition’s runners-up. They so gave India their ninth continental tournament victory. However, Pakistan has only won the championship twice.
