Salman Agha hurls runners-up cheque during heated post-match ceremony

Salman Agha was clearly unhappy with the way Pakistan’s match versus India in the 2025 Asia Cup final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium went. India was the opponent in all three of Pakistan’s Asia Cup 2025 losses.

Even when he accepted the USD 75,000 runners-up cheque from Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and head of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), his annoyance was evident. When he got the representative cheque, he threw it on the floor and went to speak with the broadcaster.

Later, Salman Agha expressed his dissatisfaction with his underperforming batting section, particularly when it was expected to give its best effort.

He did, however, add that he was pleased with the bowlers’ efforts and that he is still hopeful about the team’s future.

“It’s difficult to accept. With the bat, we were unable to finish nicely. We were excellent bowlers, but things might have been different if we had been able to finish strongly. We must improve our batting. Our batting is an issue, but our bowling was excellent. During the post-match presentation, Agha said, “I am proud of my team. We are very proud as a unit and we have a lot to look forward to.”

Pakistan had gotten off to an excellent start after being brought in to bat first. But in the end, the opposition spinners took eight wickets as they were bowled out for 146 in 19.1 overs. Sahibzada Farhan (57 off 38) was the team’s leading scorer, and nobody else could score in double figures save for the top three hitters.

With the exception of Haris Rauf (0/50 in 3.4 overs), every bowler for Pakistan performed admirably with the ball. The most impressive player was Faheem Ashraf (3/29 in 4 overs), while Shaheen Afridi and Abrar Ahmed also took wickets.
