After Haris Rauf was removed by Jasprit Bumrah, who celebrated with a gesture akin to the one Rauf had performed in the last match against India, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan made fun of the Pakistani player.
The Dubai International Cricket Stadium hosted the Asia Cup 2025 final on Sunday, September 28. India’s spin trio dominated the match and destroyed the opposition, bowling Pakistan out for 146 in 19.1 overs.
Rauf was dismissed in the eighteenth over by Indian pacer Bumrah, who was instrumental in the last overs. The right-arm bowler smashed Rauf’s stumps with a fiery full-length ball as he charged in to bowl his third over. After giving up 18 runs in his previous overs, Bumrah’s first wicket of the game sparked a fighter jet celebration.
“Flight land kara di [Bumrah has landed the flight]” was the tweet Pathan posted on X.
With openers Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman combining for an 84-run partnership for the first wicket, Pakistan got off to a fast start. But following the early surge, wickets fell often, making it difficult for the middle and lower order to create traction and giving India the opportunity to regain control.
Pakistan’s batting lineup was totally outclassed by Kuldeep Yadav’s outstanding left-arm spin. He finished with stats of 4/30 after taking four significant wickets, including three in a single over. In addition, Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel both took two wickets, enhancing Bumrah’s performance and successfully quelling any opposition.
India was given a goal of 147 in the summit match after Pakistan was out for 146. Pakistan will try to respond with a potent bowling display to win the trophy for just the third time, having last done so in 2012. The Men in Blue are hoping to secure their record-extending ninth Asia Cup victory.
A fascinating chase was built up by India’s dominance in spin and Bumrah’s deadly death bowling. The Dubai crowd was excited to see if Pakistan could pull off an upset or if the Men in Blue could continue to dominate the continent.
