Arshdeep Singh should be in India’s starting lineup for the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan in Dubai on September 28 (Sunday), according to former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan. In the last Super Fours match against Sri Lanka, the left-arm seamer produced a Super Over that won the match.
Arshdeep had previously let up 46 runs in four overs, but he made amends in the Super Over, giving up just two runs to keep India undefeated in the competition.
India had favoured Jasprit Bumrah as the only frontline seamer along with three spinners, hence this was only Arshdeep’s second Asia Cup 2025 match. In the group stage, he also faced Oman, but that match was pointless because India had already advanced to the next round.
“To start with, he’s like ice.” He asks for the ball and bowls when the pressure is on. He is prepared to bowl his yorkers in the final overs. He and Jasprit Bumrah bowl yorkers together. That’s the kind of bowler he is. It’s nothing new to me. According to the Indian Express, Pathan stated on Sony Sports, “I have been saying from the first day that he should be in the playing XI.”
Yorkers from both ends are necessary in some circumstances. The game continued until the very finish today. However, the Indian team believes that a long batting lineup is necessary. Shivam Dube is therefore an all-around player.
Arshdeep is having trouble obtaining a spot because he is playing. He will always be in my starting lineup.
With 101 wickets in 65 games at an average of 18.76 and an economy rate of 8.37, Arshdeep is India’s top wicket-taker in the 20-over format. In Twenty20 Internationals, he is the only bowler from India to have more than 100 wickets.
