Ahead of the Women’s World Cup 2025, India Women captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed her feelings to the Indian cricket community. The massive event is set to start on Tuesday, September 30 and will be co-hosted by Sri Lanka and India.
Even though the upcoming competition is a home World Cup, Harmanpreet Kaur underlined the importance of enjoying the cricket being played. She was proud to be able to lead the squad in her fifth World Cup as a professional, which was played at home.
“It can’t get any larger than leading the team in a home World Cup and winning my fifth ODI World Cup. We don’t want to put too much pressure on ourselves, even though it’s a home World Cup. Our first goal is to have fun playing cricket. No player, in my opinion, can adequately describe the sensation of hearing the national anthem.
According to JioHotstar, Harmanpreet Kaur said, “It’s a very proud moment for me.”
In an attempt to win the title this time, Harmanpreet Kaur wanted to meet and surpass the expectations of the public.
“For everyone of us, participating in a World Cup at home will be an extremely memorable experience. And it will be a significant event in my life—and not just for me, but for the entire nation—if we can win here. Everyone is anticipating that moment, and maybe we won’t let them down this time,” she continued.
The middle-order hitter went on to say that the squad members’ mentality is still upbeat. She planned to put up a unique performance during the competition and promised to give it her all for the nation.
“Everyone on the team appears to be doing well. In addition, I believe that supporters are feeling quite upbeat because our team’s performance over the past 1.5 years indicates that they are prepared for this significant occasion. The attitude remains the same even throughout a World Cup match. I want to do something unique for both my nation and my team. That’s how I always inspire myself. Harmanpreet Kaur said, “I should not feel pressured whenever I go out there.”
Six of India’s seven round-robin games will take place in Indian stadiums. On Sunday, October 5, they will play their lone match in Sri Lanka versus Pakistan Women.
