India defeated Bangladesh by a commanding 41 runs in Dubai to guarantee their place in the Asia Cup 2025 final. Abhishek Sharma’s outstanding knock and the spinners’ outstanding performance sealed the victory, guaranteeing that India will continue to be the tournament’s most reliable squad.
Bangladesh won the toss and chose to field in an attempt to secure their first-ever spot in the Asia Cup final. Abhishek Sharma’s effort, meanwhile, supported India’s innings as they scored 168/6.
Abhishek hammered 75 off 37 balls with six fours and five sixes against Bangladesh after scoring a significant amount against Pakistan. In the powerplay, his partnership with Shubman Gill (29 off 19) propelled India to 72.
While the promoted Shivam Dube didn’t stay long, Gill collapsed while trying to go big off Rishad Hossain. However, Abhishek kept up his good play, hitting fifty off twenty-five balls and leading India to 112/2 by the eleventh over. The momentum was altered when Rishad dismissed him with a clever fielding move.
India’s middle order fell apart after that. Axar Patel, Tilak Varma, and Captain Suryakumar Yadav were unable to make the kind of contributions they would have desired. In the end, Hardik Pandya’s 38 off 29 made sure the Men in Blue finished at 168/6. The best bowler for Bangladesh was Rishad Hossain (2/27), but Mohammad Saifuddin, Mustafizur Rahman, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib also contributed significant wickets.
Bangladesh never made headway against India’s onslaught while chasing 169. Tanzid Hasan was dismissed in the second over by Jasprit Bumrah. After dismissing Parvez Hossain Emon (21), Kuldeep Yadav proceeded to run through the lower order.
Saif Hassan scored 69 off 51 balls, including three fours and five sixes, in a valiant effort. He appeared to be the only batter who could challenge India’s total after reaching his fifty in thirty-six balls. Bangladesh’s chances, however, were weakened as wickets fell all around him, including those of captain Jaker Ali, Towhid Hridoy, and Shamim Hossain.
Axar Patel (1/37) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/29) maintained the pressure till Kuldeep’s twin strikes in the 17th over put an end to Bangladesh’s hopes. After losing their final five wickets for just 40 runs, Bangladesh eventually bundled out for 127 after Bumrah came back to dismiss Saif in the 18th over.
