India defeated Bangladesh by 41 runs in Dubai on Wednesday, securing their spot in the Asia Cup 2025 final. Together with Indian bowlers who destroyed Bangladesh’s chase and preserved their undefeated streak, Abhishek Sharma once again showed off his batting prowess.
Jaker Ali, Bangladesh’s acting captain, put India in to bat first, and Abhishek and Shubman Gill gave them a strong start. Taking full advantage of the field limits, the two sped to a 77-run partnership in just 6.2 overs. Six fours and five sixes adorned the southpaw’s innings as he continued his incredible run, smashing 75 off just 37 balls. After contributing 29 runs, Gill lost to Rishad Hossain.
Bangladesh entered the game thanks to Abhishek’s regrettable run-out following a deft fielding move by Rishad Hossain. Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, and Suryakumar Yadav all fell early as the middle order failed to capitalise. India ended up at 168/6 in their 20 overs, however Hardik Pandya kept one end together with 38 from 29 balls.
Tanzid Hasan Tamim was dismissed for just one in the second over by Jasprit Bumrah, who took the first blood while defending 169. Saif Hassan then put up a strong fight for Bangladesh, hitting 69 off 51 balls.
With 3/18, Kuldeep Yadav was the best bowler, tearing through Bangladesh’s middle order. Axar Patel got rid of Towhid Hridoy, and Varun Chakaravarthy contributed two wickets, including one of Shamim Hossain for a duck. Late in the innings, Bumrah came back to dismiss Saif Hassan, who had finished with 2/18 in his four overs. Bangladesh’s final score in 19.3 overs was 127.
In addition to continuing their tournament winning streak, India’s victory made them the first team to advance to the final, which is set for September 28. After losing, Bangladesh will now have to play Pakistan in a virtual semifinal; the victor would then get the opportunity to play India for the championship.
Who Made What Remark?
The Player of the Match is Abhishek Sharma.
As I’ve mentioned previously, I go with the flow and completed the task for my team. I also aim to get the powerplay for my team and go after the first ball when it’s within my range. They wanted to grab a wicket in a couple of the matches, so I wanted to go for the first ball. Given that this was a new wicket, Shubman and I agreed to take a look before leaving. Every time I see the pitch, I go for my shots because I’ve always wanted to follow it. I wish to play in accordance with the rules. During practice sessions, when the batter gets to hit a lot of balls, I have put in a lot of work. You can get out if you play too many shots in the net, but I try to avoid getting out in the nets when I practise.
India’s Suryakumar Yadav (winning captain)
We hoped to bat first in the Super Fours and see how it went, but we didn’t get to do that in this tournament; I believe we batted first against Oman. With a left arm-spinner and a leg-spinner in their bowling repertoire, I believe Dube was ideal for the situation in the 7–15 over area. It might have been 180-185 if the outfield had been extremely quick, but with our current bowling lineups, we will typically win if we bowl 12–14 excellent overs.
Jaker Ali (Losing Captain), Bangladesh
I take the preparation, which is really startling. The boys deserve all the praise since they made a fantastic adjustment after ten overs. We have another game tomorrow, so we can learn a lot from this one. We must remember that we have the chance to win tomorrow and go to the championship game. We will do our best, but let’s see what combination we end up using.
