The team for the forthcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies will be revealed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday, September 25. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the first Test match from October 2–6, and the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi will host the second match from October 10–14.
India has drawn a five-match series 2-2 against England in the United Kingdom, giving them a respectable start to their World Test Championship (WTC) campaign in the 2025–2027 cycle. A youthful Indian team was led by Shubman Gill, who scored 754 runs at an average of 75.40 in 10 innings. In London and Birmingham, the Men in Blue won.
India is the favoured going into the two-match home Test series versus the West Indies. Their goal against the Caribbean team will be to score all the points. But India will like to forget about their most recent home Test series, which ended in a 3-0 loss to New Zealand towards the end of last year.
In June and July, the West Indies played a series against Australia to begin their WTC campaign. In the lopsided home series, the team captained by Roston Chase lost all three games.
In the game’s longest format, India and the West Indies have played one another in 100 matches. The Caribbean team has won 30 games, compared to 23 victories for the Asian team. Forty-seven games finished in a tie.
These two teams’ most recent red-ball encounter took place in the Caribbean in July 2023. India prevailed 1-0 in the two-match Test series. Yashasvi Jaiswal made his international debut in this same series. In Roseau, Dominica, the southpaw struck 16 fours and one six to smash 171 off 387 balls in the opening Test.
