Dinesh Karthik Leads India at Hong Kong Sixes 2025; Ashwin Set for Action

On Tuesday, September 23, it was formally revealed that Dinesh Karthik, a former Indian cricket player, would captain the Indian squad for the forthcoming Hong Kong Sixes. On November 7, the exciting, fast-paced action is set to start. Notably, he is the second name selected to the squad after Dinesh Karthik Tamil Nadu teammate Ravichandran Ashwin, another well-known figure, was added earlier this week.

Dinesh Karthik is renowned for his extensive experience, keen leadership abilities, and explosive batting style. He had a lengthy and significant international career. It is anticipated that his selection as captain will increase team confidence and tournament excitement.

“Leading Team India in the Hong Kong Sixes, a competition with such a long history and widespread renown, is an immense privilege. According to NDTV Sports, Dinesh Karthik stated, “I am excited to lead a group of players who have such amazing records to their credit. Together, we will aim to bring joy to the fans and play cricket that is both fearless and entertaining.”

“We are overjoyed to announce Dinesh Karthik as Team India’s captain for the 2025 Hong Kong Sixes.

Burji Shroff, the chairperson of Cricket Hong Kong China, stated, “We are sure that his presence will draw fans from all over the world to witness this spectacular cricketing festival. His leadership and wealth of experience will add immense value to the competition.”

We at Arivaa Sports are thrilled to have Dinesh Karthik captain India at the Hong Kong Sixes. He is the ideal leader for this style because of his charm and capacity to perform well under duress. Rajneesh Chopra of Arivaa Sports stated, “This is another step towards strengthening the legacy of the Hong Kong Sixes as one of the most exciting global cricketing events.”

The legendary IPL career of Karthik

The 40-year-old brings a wealth of knowledge from a distinguished career both domestically and abroad. Karthik made significant runs in all formats while playing for India in 26 Test matches, 94 ODIs, and 60 T20Is. He contributed 4,842 runs at a strike rate of 135.36, including 22 half-centuries and the maximum score of 97 not-out, throughout his 257 games in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Karthik has demonstrated his leadership and mentoring abilities in addition to his playing prowess. He worked with head coach Andy Flower as Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) assistant coach earlier this year during their IPL 2025 championship run. The cricketer from Tamil Nadu played a significant role in selecting the winning lineup that ended the team’s trophy drought of eighteen seasons.
