The young player attributes his motivation to take up cricket and his aspirations to play for his country in the future to cricket star Virat Kohli. For the current series against the Indian team, 17-year-old Australian cricketer Aryan Sharma was recently selected for the Under-19 team.
Aryan recently reminisced about his trip to the Melbourne Cricket Ground to watch India vs. Australia in the Boxing Day Test match during the 2018–19 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Aryan watched Virat bat for his outstanding 82 in the opening innings, which helped India defeat the Tim Paine-led team by a commanding 137 runs.
“I brought a placard that read, ‘Kohli, you are my inspiration,’ to the Boxing Day Test in 2018 when I was just 11 years old.
See me represent Australia in 2025. It was my dream, though I’m not sure why I picked that year. I’ve been chosen for the Australian Under 19 team in 2025 thanks to God’s grace, my family’s and my coaches’ support, and years of hard effort,” Aryan said in a social media post shared by Cricket Australia’s official account.

In the opening game of the current series at the Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane, Aryan Sharma made his Under-19 debut against India Under-19. He returned wicketless after giving up 36 runs in his first innings spell, but he was unable to put up a strong showing, making only 10 runs with the bat. Thanks to an undefeated 152-run partnership between Abhigyan Kundu and Vedant Trivedi, the Indian team ultimately prevailed by six wickets.
For the second 50-over match, which will take place at the same location, Aryan is anticipated to be included in the playing XI. In order to secure his place in the squad for the forthcoming Under-19 World Cup, he would like to put on a strong showing this time.
