On Sunday, September 21, Indian vice-captain Shubman Gill dominated the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four match against Pakistan with his bat and his self-assurance.
Gill targeted Pakistan’s attack bowler Shaheen Afridi in the third over of India’s chase and then made an angry gesture.
In an attempt to limit the score, Afridi hit a length ball outside off. Already at the top of his game, Gill went down the track and blasted the delivery through additional cover for a boundary that cracked. When the bowler moved back to his mark, Gill pointed with his palm in the direction where the ball had sped away, looking directly at Afridi.

Prior to this, Pakistan had scored 171 for 5 in their 20 overs. The remainder of the batting order contributed with helpful cameos, but opener Sahibzada Farhan took the lead with a cool 58 off 45 deliveries. Shivam Dube was the most impressive bowler for India, taking two crucial wickets. With one wicket each, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav helped to ensure that Pakistan did not escape with a higher score.
India got off to a great start chasing 172, scoring 69 runs in the powerplay overs. The chase was set up by Gill and Abhishek Sharma’s aggressive stroke play, which prevented the Pakistani bowlers from settling in. India seemed to be coasting towards yet another triumph over their bitter rivals, with the asking rate consistently under control.
Following India’s resounding seven-wicket victory against Pakistan in the group stage, there was more tension and excitement surrounding this match. Kuldeep Yadav was the hero of that match with three wickets, and captain Suryakumar Yadav led the chase with an undefeated 47. There has been a lot of anticipation for the Super Four rematch since that match on September 14, with fans and analysts looking forward to another chapter in the rivalry.
