India will play Pakistan for the second match in the 2025 Asia Cup on Sunday, September 21. The Super-Four stage of the continental league will feature this high-stakes match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Former IND spinner Ravichandran Ashwin considered captain Suryakumar Yadav’s remarks during the pre-match news conference, in which the IND T20I captain sarcastically rejected the “rivalry” storyline, prior to the match. When asked about Pakistan, Suryakumar declined to mention them specifically, saying that his team’s role is only “to entertain” in front of large spectators.
According to Ashwin, Suryakumar didn’t dodge the question; rather, it was a reflection of the team’s confidence and recent triumph over Pakistan.
“The Indian squad hasn’t downplayed the excitement. The Indian team has just stated the facts. Nothing else can be said about it. In a video posted to his official YouTube channel, Ashwin stated, “That is just the plain truth.”
He went on to say, “Suryakumar Yadav has simply embodied the emotions of the Indian team’s players. We have nothing to do with that; that is their reality and their issue.”
Since September 2022, India has not suffered a defeat in a Twenty20 International match. The Men in Blue have since won three straight games against their bitter enemies. These two teams’ matchup in Group A of the current Asia Cup proved to be a one-sided affair.
Following a brilliant three-for from Kuldeep Yadav, Pakistan was limited to 127/9. Salman Ali Agha’s choice to bat first after winning the toss backfired, and Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah each took two wickets.
In response, Abhishek Sharma’s striking ability on the powerplay gave India a great start.
With just 13 balls, the left-handed batter scored 31 runs. Shubman Gill was out cheaply, and Tilak Varma scored 31 runs per ball.
With seven wickets remaining, India easily won in 15.5 overs because to Suryakumar’s undefeated 47 off 37 balls. Saim Ayub’s part-time spin bowling claimed all three of the Indian wickets.
