Pycroft to Officiate IND vs PAK Super Fours Match

The match referee for Sunday’s Super Fours match between India and Pakistan in Dubai will also be Andy Pycroft, who was at the centre of the handshake controversy during the Asia Cup encounter on September 14.

Pycroft had asked for the “immediate removal” of leaders Salman Agha and Suryakumar Yadav during the game’s toss on September 14; the PCB had demanded this. Pakistan had to postpone the match by an hour because they had to hold backroom discussions with the ICC after cancelling a pre-match press conference.

Pakistan didn’t agree to play until a late discussion between Pycroft and the team management shortly before the toss, which sparked even another dispute.

Pycroft remained, and the altercation continued throughout Pakistan’s subsequent match against the United Arab Emirates.

In light of this, India and Pakistan will play each other once more at the Dubai International Stadium. Suryakumar stated that his team’s only concern was the match.

“I think we’ve done a great job getting ready for the event. Additionally, we played three excellent games,” Suryakumar stated on Saturday. In actuality, we are concentrating on our strongest areas. We aim to continue our positive habits from the previous two or three games. And we’ll play each game as it comes.

However, since we’ve already played them and had a solid game, it doesn’t offer us an advantage. It will be a good game, of course. We’ll need to start from the beginning. And the winner of the game will be the one who plays well.

India will have an optional training session on Saturday after finishing their group match against Oman on Friday night and returning to Dubai in the early hours of the morning. Prior to Sunday’s game, Pakistan is scheduled to conduct a complete training session at the ICC Academy.
