Yashasvi Jaiswal Breaks Silence on Snub

When asked about his feelings on being passed over for the Asia Cup 2025, Indian top-order batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal recently said he is confident that opportunities will present themselves. One of India’s five standby players for the continental tournament is Jaiswal.

Yashasvi Jaiswal respectfully let the selection committee handle their duties and used the idea of team combination to support his argument.

Everything rests with the selectors. They approach it from the perspective of a team combination. I know my time will come, so I’ll keep doing what I do. In an interview with Siddhaarth Aalambayan on Mashable India, Yashasvi Jaiswal said, “Until then, I’ll keep working on myself, developing myself.”

In their five-match series against England in England, Yashasvi Jaiswal last played for India. With two fifties and numerous hundreds to his credit, he finished with 411 runs at an average of 41.10 in five games (10 innings). Ultimately, India ended up tying the series 2-2. The explosive opening batsman has struggled to establish himself in the 20-over format, despite strong performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Test cricket.

Since Gautam Gambhir became head coach of India, the Men in Blue have preferred players like Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson at the opening position. Similar to what has happened during the current tournament, Shubman Gill has also been given opportunities up front. Jaiswal’s exclusion from the T20I XI is the result of all of this.

Regarding Yashasvi Jaiswal record in Twenty20 Internationals, he has amassed 723 runs in 23 games at a strike rate of 164.31. He’s hit 38 sixes and 82 fours. Jaiswal has a century and five fifties in the format. In their latest Duleep Trophy matchup with Central Zone, he played for West Zone and scored four runs in the first inning and sixty-four in the second.
