Kuldeep Yadav Prioritises Bowling Over Batting Contributions

at spite of favourable conditions, Indian leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who is making up lost time at the Asia Cup, thought back on his experience during the England trip, where he was unable to secure a spot in the starting lineup for all five Test matches. Although Kuldeep Yadav acknowledged that the tour was difficult, he made it clear that he was in constant communication with head coach Gautam Gambhir, who desired to give the team more batting depth.

With seven wickets in two games so far, Kuldeep Yadav has made a good return in the ongoing continental championship. He won back-to-back Player of the Match awards after impressing with figures of 4/7 against the UAE and 3/18 against bitter rivals Pakistan.

“I felt like I could play in 3–4 matches sometimes, but I was unable to do so because they required batting depth. It was pretty evident what was being said. That, in my opinion, is a crucial matter. Gauti’s approach was very direct. I felt like I could play at times, but as you are aware, I was unable to do so due to the batting depth. However, it had nothing to do with hitting or talent. According to Cricbuzz, Kuldeep Yadav stated on the eve of the India vs. Oman match, “I couldn’t make a place because of the conditions or the combination.”

Kuldeep Yadav contends that while placing blame on others is easy, self-analysis and hard work are the keys to true success. He was quick to stress out that his main duty is still to bowl and take wickets for the team, even if the left-arm unconventional spinner has frequently been kept out of the lineup because the Indian team like to have more batting depth and frequently calls for the inclusion of an all-rounder.

“Batting is something you should always practise. However, my strength lies in bowling. I’ll be a bowler if I play for any team. Taking wickets is my responsibility. There won’t be any room if I don’t take wickets,” Kuldeep Yadav stated.

Therefore, it’s critical to realise that you perform like a legitimate bowler. Taking wickets for the team is your responsibility. However, the purpose of practice sessions is to enhance any talent. I’m going to keep working on it. I’ve discovered that if you work hard in life, everything else will work itself out,” he continued.

Kuldeep Yadav was able to establish rhythm during the Duleep Trophy match.

The spinner from Aligarh, who missed all of India’s games between their Champions Trophy victory and the Asia Cup, talked candidly about the difficulties of taking a break from playing cricket. He revealed that he made the most of his time off by honing his abilities and increasing his level of fitness in order to be more ready for opportunities in the future.

“It was a great time for me to work on myself, get fitter, and give bowling more volume because it’s really important.” I gained a lot of knowledge. You learn a lot as a player when you don’t play. You can make external judgements on how the team responds to circumstances. You have a lot of thoughts about how you would respond and what you would do in this circumstance. That gave me a lot of thoughts. I then competed in the Duleep Trophy match. I had no wickets. I bowled thirty-five overs. It was crucial for me to bowl there since that’s where my rhythm was established,” he continued.

In the current continental season, Kuldeep Yadav, who plays for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, leads the Men in Blue in wickets taken. His role will be enhanced now that India has qualified for the Super Four, as wrist spinners have generally found the wickets in Dubai to be very helpful, especially when combined with his ability to turn the ball both ways.
