Rishabh Pant Begins Training Comeback at BCCI Centre

On September 14 (Sunday), India’s top wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant made a successful return to training at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. After suffering a terrible foot injury during India’s five-match Test series against England, the wicketkeeper batsman had his first training session.

The wicketkeeper batsman has been walking comfortably without the cast, according to ESPNCricinfo. The two-match Test series that India will play against the West Indies at home is scheduled for October 2 (Thursday) in Ahmedabad and October 10 (Friday) in Delhi.

When Rishabh Pant attempted to reverse sweep Chris Woakes in the first innings of the Old Trafford Test, he broke his foot. Later, in valiant circumstances, the wicketkeeper batsman returned to bat, but for the fifth Test at The Oval, Dhruv Jurel wore the gloves, with Narayan Jagadeesan serving as the backup.

India is likely to keep Jurel and Jagadeesan as their two wicketkeepers if Rishabh Pant is unable to recover in time for the two-match Test series against the West Indies.
