In the fourth match of the Asia Cup 2025, which took place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 12, Pakistan easily defeated Oman by 93 runs.
Salman Agha, the captain of Pakistan, won the toss and chose to bat, using the same lineup as in their previous tri-series match.
They had a rough start to the innings with their batting, as Saim Ayub was out for a duck on the first ball. But Sahibzada Farhan and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris steadied the ship with a partnership of 85 runs off 64 balls for the second wicket. Haris led the Men in Green to a respectable total with a spectacular knock of 66 runs off 43 balls, which included three sixes and seven fours.
The Omani bowlers retaliated in the middle overs, taking wickets frequently and snuffing out any long-term alliances. Pakistan, who were participating in their first-ever edition of the top continental championship in Asia, finished at 160/7 in their allocated overs, with Shah Faisal (3/34) and Aamir Kaleem (3/31) spearheading the bowling performance.
Oman’s pursuit was unsuccessful due to the opposition’s well-organised and deadly spin attack. The side was bowled out for 67 in 16.4 overs despite Hammad Mirza leading the way with 27 runs from 23 balls. Saim Ayub, Sufiyan Muqeem, and Faheem Ashraf were bowling heroes for Agha & Co.; they each took two wickets, while Shaheen Afridi, Abrar Ahmed, and Mohammad Nawaz each grabbed one wicket.
Who Made What Remark?
The Player of the Match is Muhammad Haris.
It was excellent. For Pakistan and me, it was a much-needed innings. It looked great when we arrived, flat, but the ball was not hitting, so we did a terrific job of scoring runs. I was doing it for Pakistan, and the captain instructed me to play aggressively in the PSL.
Jatinder Singh, Oman (Captain who lost)
I am really proud of the guys for our bowling performance, which kept them under 160. They carried out the discussed plans. Our team is better than what we did today, and there were some nerves, so we didn’t rotate the strike. (Team message) To support ourselves, play constructive cricket, and not pay attention to who is bowling.
Pakistan’s Salman Agha (winning captain)
We still have more work to do on the bat. I am pleased with the bowling unit; the bowling was excellent. When playing in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, you need to have 4-5 solid choices, and our three spinners—including Ayub—are all unique. We should have scored 180 with the start we had, but that’s just the way cricket works. Our cricket has been excellent; we won the tri-series and won here with ease. If we stick to our strategies for a longer amount of time, we can defeat any team.
